Fostering adoptable pets

Even more than funds, our shelters are in desperate need of space. They can only take in so many animals at once, and that's where fostering comes in.

Foster parents keep adoptable pet(s) in their homes until a place comes open at a shelter or until a permanent new home is found

Foster parents are not responsible for the medical costs of the pet. Even food can be supplied if necessary

All pets are screened for good health, behavior and adoptable traits before being given to a foster family. Foster families will never be asked to foster questionable or dangerous animals

Foster families must be prepared to allow the pet into their homes and have room for the pet's crate; most adoption agencies do not approve of a pet being left outside to live

Other foster families within your adoption organization can help you with your foster pet(s) when it is time for vacation or family emergencies
